From the very beginning, I wanted to make a puzzle that worked on paper and digitally. Part of the reason I put "A New Classic Word Puzzle!" everywhere is because I want Wordfive to feel like the kind of puzzle that's been around for decades, even while seeming totally new. The digital version here on itch was only half the vision--a way for people to try the game and to build a community around the idea. The other half of the vision is a series of puzzle books, starting with Wordfive Volume 1. I really do feel that Wordfive plays just as great on paper as on a screen, and I'm proud of how I've been able to make a game that can cross that divide.

Volume 1 includes 55 puzzles, some of which were designed by me with specific ideas (and some easter eggs!) in mind, but most were produced by the same software engine that powers the digital version. The puzzles in the book were curated by myself and my wife (and in some cases edited slightly) to ensure the best experience.
